4. 怎样表达感叹

电视上我们看到水灾民的房子给洪水冲走了，财产尽失，有的甚至家破人亡。这时我们感叹地说："他们多么惨啊！那些小孩子真可怜啊！"这些感叹语，英文是怎样表达的呢？ 很多学生用陈述句表达，
如：They are very unfortunate! The children are very pitiful! 虽然在语法上，这些句子完全没问题，但在语气上就有点欠缺感叹的意味。 实际上，在英文句中，有一种叫做感叹句(Exclamatory Sentences), 感叹句的词序应为：How或What…+S.+ V.! 例如上面的句子可以这样表达： How unfortunate they are! What unfortunate people they are! 要注意感叹句与疑问句的词序(Word Order)是不同的。让我们比较下面的句子： How long is the river?这条河有多长？ How long the river is! 那条河真长啊！ What flower is it? 这是什么花？ What a beautiful flower it is! 多么美丽的花啊！ 疑问句、感叹句除了it和is的顺序不同外，疑问句中没有冠词(Article) "a"，而感叹句当出现单数普通名词的时候，则必须加上冠词 "a"。 另外感叹句How…与What…，在结构上，两者中的冠词 "a" 的位置不一样，需注意。 How beautiful a flower it is! What a beautiful flower it is! 最后要注意的是在what之后，一定要有名词，而how则不需要。因此我可以说：How great it is!（真太好了！）但不能说： What great it is!
