BEFORE THE EXAMINATION

I woke up very early this morning, earlier than usual. It was about five o’clock. The wind was blowing gently and the weather was cool. I put on my sweater to keep myself warm. I looked through the window and found that there was no one in the street. Everywhere it was quiet and peaceful. I took up my books and began my studies. I revised all my previous work in mathematics and English which are the examination subjects for to-day. I learned all the formulas in mathematics and a few important points in English, and studied a few compositions. By then, it was 6 a.m., and my mother got up. She went to the kitchen and lighted a fire to boil some water. She gave me a cup of hot coffee. I drank it and felt warm. She began to prepare my breakfast. I continued to study quietly. At six-thirty, I went to wash my face, took a hot bath, and began to dress up. After breakfast, I rushed to school. Reaching school, I saw all my friends with their books in their hands. I felt I had studied quite enough this morning, and I did not care to study any more, I wanted my mind to have a rest. As soon as the bell had rung, I went into the examination hall.
