MY SCHOOL
LIFE
How
fortunate I was admitted to this school! The teachers are learned
and conscientious in their teachings. They take great pains to make
us learn our lessons. They pay much attention to our home work.
Above all, they live and work together with us. In this school there
is no distinct barrier at all between teachers and students.
The
lessons here are not so easy as in my former school, however. We
have English composition every week. We read Charles Dickens’s “David
Copper field” as our text. The teacher gives explanations and questions
all in English. We have to prepare our lessons Beforehand.
As
for Chinese, we read more writings in the literary style than before.
Some passages of classics are assigned to us for supplementary readings.
We have to write reports for the supplementary work as well as a
composition every week. Most of us are keeping diaries in order
to practice writing Chinese.
Our
school lays great emphasis on physical training. It is not like
those schools which train a few champions but neglect the well-being
of the great majority of students. Our school requires every student
to take part in the games. One student should take at least one
kind of game. Besides, there are morning exercises held every day.
A sound mind in a sound body is the motto of our school.
