Wrapping up the presentation
Kevin: And now, I'd be happy to take any questions.
Steve: [Clapping] Very good, very good. I'm almost convinced, but I have a question.
Kevin: I'm here to answer. Fire away.
Steve: How long will your company have the lead in this field?
Kevin: At least for the next three years.
Steve: The other companies have no way to catch up to Allied?
Kevin: Not based on our current information. They're working on stuff that we completed three years ago.

A jellyfish's tentacles, which can exceed 30 meters in length, drag through the sea and capture any prey that may be in their path. Special cells that line the tentacles then fire small "arrows" into the victim, paralyzing it with a poison toxic enough to freeze even a human. The unfortunate prey is then drawn into the jellyfish's mouth.

Don't burn your bridges.

Don't paint yourself into a corner.(涂地板时,别把自己涂到角落去),以免令自己无路可退。

对 话
Kate: I'm going to tell Brian exactly what I think of him. Our relationship is over.
Candy: Not a good idea. Don't burn your bridges.
Kate: But I'll never see him again. What harm could it do?
Candy: A lot. Here he is now and he's just won the lottery. He's loaded.
Kate: Hey Brian! Brain Hi! (Brian gives away money to Kate) I think I'm in love!

Don't burn your bridges. He's loaded。 One million dollars is nothing to him: he is loaded(一百万元对他来说不算一回事,他很富有)。

To burn your bridges (behind you)直译是‘把(后面)的桥梁烧了’,那bridges可以改为boats(渡船)。 现在,to burn your bridges/boats (behind you)就是‘断绝退路’的意思,例如:In submitting his resignation, he has burned his bridges behind him: he cannot possibly get his job back(他已辞呈,破釜沉舟,不可能复任了)。

西泽不但赌胜了,还留下to cross the Rubicon(渡过卢比孔河)、the die is cast两句成语,例如:Since I have signed the contract, the die is cast/I have crossed the Rubicon. There is no going back(我已经签了合约,一切已定,无可反悔)。
