Candy:That's no biggie. So what about changing my tourist visa to a student visa? Ian:With all this documentation, you should have no problem. Candy:So I can just show up at the L.A. Airport with this acceptance letter, and they'll let me in? Ian:NO! You have to go through all the procedures at the American Institute here first! Candy: [Loudly] OKAY! Hey, what's up with you anyway? Weren't you gonna apply to grad school here? Ian:Don't remind me. Let's go get that drink now, OK?

Such is the reputation of the All Blacks that some believe they gain a psychological advantage over their opponents the moment they step out onto the playing field. If such an advantage really exists, it can only be enhanced when, as tradition dictates, the team performs the celebrated haka before the match kicks off.

How does she get away with wearing such a get-up?
Penny: Look at Petra? Martha: What an outfit! Her hat looks like the Eiffel Tower. Penny: And that's the skimpiest dress I've ever seen. Martha: How does she get away with wearing such a get-up? Penny: Sheer self-confidence and a fabulous figure. Martha: Oh I wish...
(1) I saw him in a hiking outfit, looking very tired(我见他穿着一身远足服装,样子十分疲倦)。(2) She wore an extraordinary get-up to the party(她穿着一套古怪服装出席派对)。
Get-up这个名词,当然是出自动词词组get (somebody/oneself) up。 (1) He got himself up as Batman for the fancy dress ball(他打扮成蝙蝠侠的样子,参加化装舞会)。(2) She was got up in a figure-hugging dress(她穿着一套非常贴身且曲线毕露的衣服)。
How does she get away with wearing such a get-up? While the other tenderers all followed the established procedures, he did not, and got away with it(其它投标者都依照既定程序,他却没有,也不见被取消资格)。美丽的女人,无论穿多么难看的服装,都可以get away with it。
