Ian meets Sarah for dinner Thursday night
Ian: You picked my favorite cuisine!
Sarah: I must be psychic. So you think Candy will get through grad school?
Ian: I think she 1 has what it takes to make it through.
Sarah: She has what? A fat wallet?
Ian: That fat wallet should buy her a lot of completed homework.
Sarah: And that fat wallet is helping pay for dinner tonight.
Ian: How nice. So Sarah, I'm tired of working. I want to try being a student again.

★ cuisine (n.)
★ psychic (n.,a.)
★ fat wallet (n.) 凯子
★ completed (a.) 完整的

While recent years have seen the All Blacks struggling to match their past successes, the emergence of skillful professionals such as Tongan-born winger Jonah Lomu ensures that the famous black jersey with the silver fern on the left breast is still able to instill awe in opponents and spectators alike.

I'm rather put out with Mary.

对话
Gwyneth: I'm rather put out with Mary.
Tina: Why's that?
Gwyneth: Well she promised to help me move into my new apartment on the weekend.
Tina: I didn't know you were moving.
Gwyneth: Yes, and I had quite a lot of stuff to move.
Tina: What happened?
Gwyneth: She let me down. She didn't turn up at all, so I had to shift everything myself.
Tina: I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps she wasn't feeling well…

(1) When I learned that he had been speaking ill of me all the time, I naturally felt very put out with him. (2)Put out by his refusal to help, I did not speak to him.

She let me down. She didn't turn up at all。 In failing to get into college, you have let me down. Turn up则是‘出现’,另一说法是show up, 例如: He turned up/showed up just when he was needed.

She broke her word to me、She did not appear at all。I'm rather put out with Mary I am rather annoyed with Mary。
