Tev and Wei meet Paul outside the car rental agency Paul: Hey, guys. You look awful! Trev: I feel worse than I look. Paul: I found the perfect car. Trev: I hope it has muscle. Paul: Better than that. It's reliable. Trev: Sounds like my grandma's car. Paul: And it gets really good gas mileage. Here it is. A Geo Metro. Trev: That thing looks like a go-cart. Paul: It's the cheapest car here. It never breaks down, and it's easy to park. Trev:Come on! We're on vacation. We need something more fun than that.

Since its fundamental completion in 1250, the cathedral has borne witness to many of the significant events of European history, as well as bearing the scars of its violent periods. It was the scene of the coronation of Henry VI of England in 1430, and later, that of Mary, Queen of Scots. It survived attempted destruction during the French Revolution to witness the crowning of Napoleon and Josephine. Since then, the Notre Dame de Paris has survived two world wars, and it remains a symbol of European history and resilience.

She's got me on standby for the three o'clock flight.
Ginny: Why all the rush? Beverly: I've got just three hours to get home, pack and then get to the airport. Ginny: Where are you off to? Beverly: Greece I hope, though it's not 100 per certain. Ginny: Why not? Beverly: My sister works for the airline Hellenair and she's got me on standby for the three o'clock flight to Rhodes. Ginny: So you can only get a seat if they have a spare one because someone fails to turn up? Beverly: That's right, so please wish me luck.
飞机票有一种叫standby ticket(后备机票)。 I am afraid there is only one standby ticket for Paris即‘对不起,往巴黎的后备机票只有一张’。 The standby hurriedly got on the flight(那候补乘客匆匆上机)。 As I could not get a reservation on the three o'clock flight, I had to go on standby(我无法预订到三点钟班机的机票,只能列入候补名单)。 Hundreds of cops are on standby in case the protest becomes a riot(数百警员随时待命,以防抗议变成暴动)。 这两个字一般是指古希腊人、文化等,例如:往希腊访古,叫做to go on a Hellenic tour;乘船游爱琴海眺望希腊古迹,则叫做to take a Hellenic cruise。
