Bob:Not everyone, but most. Over seventy percent, at last count.
Jun: How did Mormonism start, anyway?
Bob:Joseph Smith, our prophet, received a vision from the Angel Moroni when he was a young man in New York. The angel told him where to find golden tablets with the word of God. Those tablets described how Jesus had come to America!
Jun: That's very interesting. So those tablets were in English?
Bob:They were in a mysterious language. Joseph Smith translated those tablets into The Book of Mormon in 1830.

In our country schools are closed during the summer. This custom was important 200 years ago when most people were farmers. People needed their children to help them pick the crops in June, July and August. But few people are farmers anymore. Today many parents feel school should be open during the summer months.

You're so talented.

对话
Jack: Those watercolors are really beautiful.
Caroline: I'm glad you like them. I painted them last year.
Jack: You painted them yourself? I can't believe it, they're so good.
Caroline: They're not that good, but I'm glad you like them.
Jack: You're so talented, I wish I had your skill.
Caroline: You should try your hand yourself, I'm sure you could do just as well if not better.

You're so talented。 (1) He has a talent for acting(他有演戏的才华)。(2) With no gift for foreign languages, I found it extremely difficult to learn French(我没有外语的天分,所以学习法语非常困难)。(3) The teacher recognized van Gogh's artistic genius(老师发觉了梵谷的艺术天份)。 You should try your hand yourself, I'm sure you could do just as well if not better。 Why don't you try your hand at fencing?(你为什么不试试击剑?) (1) Hundreds, if not thousands, of trees were felled in a few days(几天之内,即使没有几千株树被砍倒,至少也有好几百株)。(2) He is as rich as, if not richer than, Bill Gates(他即使不比盖茨富有,也在伯仲之间)。
