John: You actually believe in fortunetellers?
Amy: Of course. Anyway, I'm seeing my plastic surgeon, Doctor Dave, on Friday.
John: This is, like, your third operation in the last few months. How do you pay for it all?
Amy: Where there's a credit card, there's a way.
John: But credit cards still have to be paid off. And with no job...
Amy: You sound like my big sister. Once I get a job, I'll pay them off.

★ operation (n.)

Get off my case.

此外,也可说:Get off my back.(别在我背后唠叨),有时丈夫会向太太说:Stop nagging me.(停止对我唠叨不休)。 You can talk.

对话
A:I've had it up to here with you.
B:Why, what have I done now?
A:You never tidy your room, you're lazy, you never clean your shoes and I have to tell you to take a bath.
B:Get off my case. I have a lot to do at school. I don't have time.
A:But you're a 30 year- old teacher. Grow up!

I've had it up to here. I can't take it. / put up with it any more。Take和put up with都有‘忍受’的意思,例如:(1) I can't take any more of your laziness.(我再也不能忍受你的惰懒)。(2) How can you put up with his insolence?(他那样傲慢,你怎么能够忍受?)That's more than I can take. / put up with.

That's the last straw. It's the last straw that breaks the camel's back. She began calling me a coward, which was the last straw: I divorced her.(她开始叫我做懦夫,我忍无可忍,跟她离婚了)。

Leave me alone. / Leave me be.(别管我)、Stop pestering/bothering/bugging me.(别烦我)、Stop nagging me. Get off my case / back. Why don't you get off my case / back?(你不要啰嗦批评我好吗?)
