At the grill
Rich: Now the coals are just right. I can start grilling.
Yi-jun: Here you go. I made up the burger patties for you.
Rich: Thanks. Smell the hickory chips? They give the meat a nice, smoky flavor.
Yi-jun: [Moves toward the grill] I'll take over for a while to give you a break.
Rich: Sorry. This is a one-man job. I've got the grill justhow I like it, and I've made up my own special sauce.
Yi-jun: Then I'll tell folks the food's ready. [yells] Come and get it! [to Rich] I've always wanted to say that!

★ coal (n.)
★ Here you go!
★ hickory (n.)
★ take over 接管
★ one-man (a.)

One of the world's oldest stories, The Epic of Gilgamesh, is a lively tale of heroism and sacrifice from ancient Sumer. It also contains one of the earliest references to beer. In the story, a female friend of the hero changes a wild, primitive beast into a cultured human being by giving him seven cups of beer.

You look a million dollars !

You look a million dollars! You look great. / You look fantastic. You look a million bucks.

对话
Husband:Wow! What have you done to yourself? You look a million dollars!
Wife:Darling, not quite a million dollars.
Husband:Why do you say that?
Wife:Well, actually love, the BOTOX, the plastic surgery and nose job cost $999 thousand dollars.
Husband:Can I get my thousand dollars back then?

美国口语说好看或容光焕发,往往以钱为言:to look (like) a million dollars / bucks。To look like a million dollars. She needs no cosmetics to look like a million dollars. The refurbished house looked like a million dollars.

说感到身心舒畅、精力充沛等,也可以钱为言:to feel like a million dollars,例如:A leisurely morning stroll in the garden always makes me feel like a million dollars.(早上在花园里散步,总令我感到身心舒畅)。

这也是成语to pass the buck的来源:轮流发牌,鹿角柄小刀一人传一人,引伸而言,to pass the buck即‘推卸责任’。
